📋 Description

• Create technical documentation including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting guides; how-tos; user manuals; man pages; and --help prompts • Participate in team ceremonies • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager, Product Manager, developers, and QA to produce high-quality documentation • Use text, Markdown, images, and diagrams for audiences of all experience levels • Leverage AI tooling to draft, polish, format, and refine content • Maintain documentation versioning • Contribute to the overall documentation strategy • Write documentation for PostgreSQL and related components of Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL • Check Slack, email, and Jira for updates and handle writing tasks such as new features, guides, bug fixes, and release notes • Respond to documentation requests and questions on forums • Draft blog posts and contribute to upstream documentation • Research and learn new technologies • Communicate and collaborate through Slack, Zoom, and Jira across time zones • Occasionally participate in conferences or in-person meetups

🎯 Requirements

• Graduate-level written English and excellent verbal communication skills • Experience documenting complex systems and writing user-oriented documentation • 3+ years of experience as a technical writer • Experience writing high-quality and precise documentation • Experience with markup languages, Markdown preferred • Experience installing and configuring database server software on Linux • Docs-as-code experience • Knowledge of Jenkins, Git, Markdown, HTML, and/or JavaScript strongly recommended • Experience leveraging AI tooling for documentation purposes • Comfortable with the Linux command line • Distributed system development and/or database server development experience • Fluency in developer tools such as Git, GCC, and GDB • Ability to work autonomously in a globally distributed organization • Experience collaborating with open source communities and colleagues via mailing lists, Slack, etc. • Experience using collaboration/tracking tools such as Jira and Notion • Proven success working in a distributed environment • Quick learner and great team player • A developer or DevOps background would make you stand out • Track record of contributing to PostgreSQL or other open source projects and active PostgreSQL community membership would make you stand out • Solid understanding of PostgreSQL internals would make you stand out • Solid working knowledge of database storage engines, at-rest encryption, and cloud orchestration would make you stand out • Ability to build and maintain automated documentation testing, CI/CD pipelines for documentation, and validation tools would make you stand out • Conference speaking, technical blogging, and public forum or mailing list activity would make you stand out
