📋 Description

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of platform engineers, owning hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development and day-to-day prioritization. • Nurture a culture of engineering excellence, accountability and psychological safety. • Stay hands-on as a player-coach, contributing to architecture decisions, infrastructure-as-code, code reviews and difficult infrastructure problems. • Establish engineering patterns and best practices for the team and broader engineering organization. • Contribute to the platform roadmap and translate organizational strategy into the team’s plan. • Balance reliability, cost, security and developer experience; make build-vs-buy and tooling decisions; manage team capacity and commitments. • Guide deployment and evolution of cloud solutions, focusing on AWS, Infrastructure as Code and automation. • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption where they strengthen the platform. • Enable observability, automation and integration points for AIOps in partnership with Platform Operations. • Ensure systems meet Platform Operations’ SLIs and SLOs; support incident response and participate in blameless post-mortems. • Partner with product, security, Platform Operations and engineering teams to align platform priorities with business goals. • Communicate technical strategy and trade-offs to technical teams and stakeholders. • Keep the team current with tools, technologies and best practices, including AI/ML and AIOps.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of platform engineering experience, including 2+ years leading or mentoring a team (platform, infrastructure, DevOps or SRE), with hiring, mentoring and performance-management responsibility. • Extensive hands-on Kubernetes administration at scale, including ArgoCD, Helm and cluster lifecycle management. • Expert-level proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code frameworks; experience defining reusable IaC patterns and modules, and managing CI/CD and GitOps workflows. • Deep expertise with AWS (networking, compute, storage, security) and containerization in cloud-native environments. • Working knowledge of observability, developer-platform (IDP) patterns and security/IAM principles. • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts and risk to diverse audiences. • Must be available for on-call escalation coverage.
