Prevail Fund is an organization that mobilizes philanthropic capital and field implementation capacity to pursue ambitious, measurable global goals—beginning with improving foundational literacy and numeracy in low- and middle-income countries. Prevail makes targeted grants to field implementers, works directly on the ground to build their capacity to scale over 10+ years, and coordinates donor teams to leverage government and private-sector spending. Its founding board is composed of experienced social entrepreneurs and implementers, and its first program aims to raise and deploy $1B in philanthropy to improve instruction for at least 27. 5 million children across 11 countries in Africa and South Asia.

📋 Description

• Set the vision and strategy for Prevail's Research function. • Define priorities across research workstreams and refine assessment frameworks. • Derive comparable metrics across sectors and learn from peer organizations and global experts. • Lead and develop the Research team, including team structure, operations, researcher support, hiring, and scaling systems. • Drive Prevail's strategy for assessing new philanthropic opportunities. • Build and own complex quantitative and qualitative models, including cost-effectiveness models, reach and fund-sizing estimates, and durability syntheses. • Identify, diligence, and evaluate high-impact interventions through desk reviews, expert interviews, quantitative modeling, and likely in-person visits. • Synthesize and translate evidence into slide decks, investment memos, interactive models, and visualizations. • Answer operational and programmatic questions with evidence-based, creative solutions. • Produce practical recommendations for philanthropic programs across the Education Fund, New Initiatives pipeline, and future funds.

🎯 Requirements

• 9+ years of experience conducting research to drive decision-making • 4+ years leading, mentoring, and managing other researchers • Experience managing complex, multi-workstream research agendas • Experience implementing organizations in global development is a strong asset, but not required • Ability to conduct goal-oriented research and structure efficient analytical paths • Ability to track and clearly outline how key conclusions were reached • Ability to communicate analytical uncertainties and strategies for resolving them • Ability to integrate quantitative and qualitative data from diverse fields, including econometrics and political science • Ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear frameworks, models, and recommendations • Ability to develop outputs that motivate diverse audiences • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to donors, implementers, and academics • Comfortable owning conclusions in rooms of senior decision-makers • Must be based within a timezone between -6 UTC (US Central Time) and +3 UTC (East Africa Time) • Prevail is not normally able to sponsor visas
