📋 Description

• Set technical direction for the public-sector investigations workstream • Choose technical approaches, sequence scientific work, and maintain coherence across contributors • Lead science without people management by reviewing designs and evaluations, raising quality standards, and unblocking difficult problems • Own AI system readiness from problem framing through evaluation, error analysis, efficacy studies, and production monitoring • Serve as the first escalation point for difficult technical decisions • Build initial prototypes with tiger teams and carry initiatives from idea to evidence • Move work from proof of concept to production at scale • Collaborate with product, engineering, design, and embedded legal experts • Own end-to-end science for FOIA, public-records workflows, and government investigations • Develop retrieval and review systems and evaluation standards for complete, correct, and defensible responses

🎯 Requirements

• Master's or PhD in computer science or another quantitative discipline, or equivalent professional experience • At least 3 years of professional experience in applied AI/ML • Eligibility for a US Public Trust clearance • Working knowledge of FOIA exemptions, PII handling, and redaction • Deep applied AI/ML and deployment experience • Experience specifying, prototyping, and taking AI systems into production with engineering partners • Modern AI depth sufficient to direct others' work and assess system soundness • Ability to lead data understanding and design studies based on evidence • Software-engineering judgment • Ownership mindset beyond immediate scope • Deeper government data or public-records experience is nice to have • Interest in legal technology and the justice system is nice to have • Information retrieval systems experience is nice to have • Agentic harness development experience is nice to have • Reliable AI systems at scale experience is nice to have
