📋 Description

• Own revenue recognition across warehousing, transportation, freight forwarding, and value-added services under ASC 606, GAAP, and company policy • Review customer contracts, amendments, rate schedules, and non-standard terms to determine performance obligations, transaction price, and recognition timing • Document revenue recognition conclusions in technical memos suitable for auditor review • Advise Sales, Legal, and Operations on revenue questions during contract negotiations • Maintain and improve revenue accounting policies and support internal controls • Drive the revenue portion of monthly and annual close according to a firm calendar • Coordinate inputs across Operations, Billing, Accounts Receivable, Sales, and international sites • Prepare and review revenue journal entries, accruals, deferrals, unbilled revenue, and account reconciliations • Partner with Accounts Receivable to resolve billing disputes affecting recognized revenue • Build and deliver recurring revenue reporting by customer, site, service line, and region, including variance analysis • Investigate volume, rate, and mix trends and provide recommendations to Finance leadership • Support budgeting, forecasting, and management/investor reporting with revenue data and insight • Lead revenue-related external audit requests and support internal control testing • Deliver ad hoc analysis on revenue streams, pricing, and contract profitability • Identify and fix manual processes, reconciliation gaps, and handoffs through process, system, or reporting improvements • Contribute to finance system and reporting improvements • Stay current on accounting standards affecting revenue and assess their impact on Rinchem

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful time spent in revenue accounting • Working command of ASC 606 • Strong general accounting foundation, including journal entries, account reconciliations, trial balance, P&L, and balance sheet • Advanced Excel, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, nested formulas, and large datasets from multiple sources • Experience with a major ERP such as SAP, NetSuite, Oracle, or similar • Experience with Microsoft Office • Ability to obtain information from people who do not report to you, set expectations, follow up, and escalate constructively • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Ownership mentality • CPA or CPA candidate preferred • Public accounting experience, or a mix of public and industry preferred • Experience in logistics, transportation, 3PL, supply chain, or another multi-site service business preferred • Multi-entity and multi-currency experience, including international operations and intercompany transactions preferred • Exposure to private equity-backed reporting requirements or a formal internal control environment preferred • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or automating recurring reporting preferred • Experience improving or implementing a revenue process or system preferred
