📋 Description

• Perform transmission system planning and analysis, including load flow, stability, short circuit, and electromagnetic transient studies • Support utility planning and advisory projects for ISO/RTOs and electric utilities • Prepare new generator interconnection applications • Develop conceptual single-line diagrams • Verify compliance with reactive power requirements • Develop steady-state, dynamic, and short-circuit models for interconnection applications • Review ISO feasibility and system impact studies • Provide guidance to ISO Interconnection Customers • Use data, automation, artificial intelligence, and other digital tools where relevant to support research, analysis, engineering, design, and workflow improvement • Apply professional judgment and review when using technology-assisted tools

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and sufficient industry experience is considered in lieu of an advanced degree • A minimum of 5 years relevant power systems engineering experience with utility or consultant • Experience in load flow and contingency analysis to identify transmission thermal and voltage constraints and to identify transfer capability limits • Experience using transmission planning software for load flow modeling, contingency analysis, and stability analysis using PSS/E, PSLF, TARA • Must be eligible to work in Canada; Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor employees for work authorization in Canada • Candidates must be a citizen of a country listed in Appendix A to Part 810 of the Code of Federal Regulations if access to U.S. export-controlled information is required • Experience in stability analysis to identify critical clearing times, voltage constraints, and power system damping is valued but not required • Experience in electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD is valued but not required • Experience in short circuit analysis and CAPE or ASPEN is valued but not required • Knowledge of power regions and ISOs/RTOs, including PJM, MISO, NYISO, ERCOT, SPP, CAISO, WECC, SERC, ISO-NE, is valued but not required • Experience in Python, JavaScript, or other scripting languages is valued but not required • Interest in learning and effectively using emerging technologies where relevant to the role
