Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority is a community-led non-profit health authority serving 33 First Nation communities in the Sioux Lookout region of Ontario, Canada. Mandated by local First Nations leadership, SLFNHA delivers and coordinates a wide range of health programs and client services—covering primary care, mental health (Nodin), developmental services, diabetes care, tuberculosis programs, cancer screening initiatives, patient navigation, transportation and accommodations—for Indigenous peoples, and focuses on strengthening local health systems, cultural safety, and community wellbeing.

📋 Description

• Support health services delivered by the SLFNHA Developmental Services team as well as programs the DS team works in collaboration with. • Work with clients, caregivers and community resources to promote growth and development of our clients. • Arrange transportation to and from airport for staff. • Support booking of clients. • Provide support to individual clients and families by follow-up. • Support virtual sessions between community clients and Health Care Professionals. • Monitor and carry out services as directed by SLFNHA Health Care Professional staff. • Support for additional SLFNHA Health Care Professional staff outside of the department may be included. • Be accountable to the Developmental Services Manager - Clinical, Developmental Services for mentorship and day to day support.

🎯 Requirements

• Equivalent to partial high school education. • The person can read and write to communicate easily. • Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Health Sciences, Education or related field is an asset. • Two years of experience in a health or education services environment. • Experience working with children. • Professional integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. • Strong organizational and scheduling skills. • Familiar with the use of popular software such as MS Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat (PDF) and skilled at use of internet-based tools. • Willingness to share knowledge and culture of First Nations people and specifically the respective community. • Willingness to speak up on the health and mental health priorities of your community. • A team player who can work independently with minimal supervision. • Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment). • Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects of the Sioux Lookout region is an asset.
