📋 Description

• Serve as architectural owner of the C++ Turbo Module bridging the React Native JS layer to the vehicle Secure Gateway Module over USB/DTLS • Own the TypeScript/C++ boundary for vehicle data polling, UDS diagnostic requests, CAN bus messaging, OTA update management, DTC operations, and security access • Guide CAN decoder design and shared CAN message definitions; review vehicle communication data model changes • Drive DTLS session lifecycle architecture, including certificate issuance, security endpoints, and native-layer cryptographic operations • Evaluate protobuf-based dynamic DID mapping • Enforce the Definition of Done for vehicle communication pull requests and set the technical quality bar • Own layered mobile application architecture from Presentation through Native Modules and Data Persistence • Drive architecture and implementation for EV Charging, Service Scheduling, Vehicle Settings, and Key Management / Plugged-In flows • Set server state management patterns for caching, synchronization, optimistic updates, and stale-while-revalidate behavior • Own encrypted local storage and per-VIN partitioning; direct schema validation hardening • Lead warm-start lifecycle hygiene and preventative patterns • Direct secure WebView integrations for Account Management, Finance, and E-Commerce • Own push notification architecture, including backend integration, token management, permissions, deep linking, and encryption • Provide technical direction for the mobile backend-for-frontend and extend or debug service endpoints • Own mobile API client architecture, JWT refresh, API key gating, and version-safe endpoint evolution • Resolve charging API ownership gaps and oversee RepairPal BFF integration • Set mobile observability strategy using Datadog RUM, structured logging, and crash reporting • Escalate and resolve severe native crashes, DTLS session drops, and vehicle state failures • Partner with the QAM on testability and gray-box vehicle communication testing • Lead performance profiling and establish response-time benchmarks • Own iOS and Android build and release architecture, EAS Build, provisioning, distribution, and production submission • Set OTA update channels, rollout policies, rollback procedures, and native-versus-OTA boundaries • Own App Store and Google Play certification readiness • Set technical direction for the MOB pod through ADRs, design reviews, and blocker escalation • Mentor SDE IIs and SDE IIIs and conduct architecture-grounded PR reviews • Represent mobile engineering in cross-pod and cross-discipline technical, security, and vehicle-interface forums • Adopt and demonstrate AI-assisted development workflows

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with at least 4 years in mobile application development (iOS, Android, or React Native) • Deep familiarity with C++ native module architecture in a React Native context • Deep React Native expertise: Turbo Modules, Expo ecosystem (EAS Build, EAS Update, Expo Router), TypeScript, and state management patterns • Demonstrated ability to build or maintain backend services: REST API design, authentication middleware, JWT lifecycle, and third-party service integration • Experience with serial or embedded communication protocols: CAN bus, UDS diagnostics, DID-based data polling, or DTLS/TLS in constrained hardware environments • Fluency with mobile security patterns: hardware-backed key management, encrypted local storage, certificate-based device authentication, and secure WebView session injection • Strong CI/CD and release engineering skills: multi-environment build pipelines, OTA update strategy, and App Store / Google Play submission experience • Experience with mobile observability tooling: instrumentation, production crash diagnosis, and performance profiling • Automotive software experience, secure gateway architectures, vehicle certificate issuance flows, or embedded cryptography strongly preferred • Experience integrating EV charging networks or fleet telematics platforms strongly preferred • Familiarity with Protocol Buffers or dynamic vehicle data configuration mapping strongly preferred • Prior work scaling a mobile product from pre-GA to GA launch with hard date constraints strongly preferred
