📋 Description

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert providing professional electrical engineering and technical consulting support to the Department of Veterans Affairs, CFM, and VHA • Support VA design, construction, maintenance, facilities, and programmatic initiatives across multiple projects • Review electrical engineering design packages, drawings, specifications, calculations, studies, and technical submissions • Evaluate compliance with the NEC, NFPA standards, VA Design Guides, VA criteria, and federal healthcare facility requirements • Review electrical power distribution, emergency power, UPS, generators, lighting, grounding and bonding, life-safety, telecommunications, signal, and security systems • Perform or review load studies, short-circuit analyses, arc-flash assessments, equipment sizing, capacity evaluations, and infrastructure condition assessments • Analyze deficiencies and risks and develop corrective-action, upgrade, replacement, and mitigation recommendations • Review designs for constructability, technical accuracy, completeness, coordination, and code compliance • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, contractor proposals, modifications, technical studies, and calculations • Provide technical support throughout design development, construction, commissioning, acceptance, and closeout • Conduct site visits, field investigations, inspections, system assessments, and evaluations at VA facilities • Document field conditions and deficiencies and prepare written technical findings and recommendations • Participate in project meetings, design reviews, construction coordination, issue-resolution discussions, Value Management studies, and Post-Occupancy Evaluations • Coordinate with CFM, VHA, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders • Prepare technical memoranda, engineering evaluations, studies, analyses, reports, recommendations, and decision-support documentation • Support VA standards, specifications, deviation requests, infrastructure prioritization, and project issue tracking

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution of higher learning • Current professional licensure applicable to the Electrical Engineering discipline • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in both electrical engineering design and construction • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply local, state, and federal jurisdictional requirements and project-specific requirements • Strong technical, verbal, written, and professional communication skills • Strong computer and software proficiency • Ability to independently evaluate technical information and communicate defensible engineering findings and recommendations • Ability to manage multiple projects, assignments, priorities, and deadlines in a remote consulting environment • Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary engineering, construction, healthcare, and project-management teams • Ability to satisfy applicable Department of Veterans Affairs personnel-security, system-access, and training requirements • Completion of required background investigation • Ability to obtain and maintain a VA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) card when required • Compliance with VA information-security and privacy requirements • Completion of VA Cyber Security Awareness Training and VA Privacy Awareness Training • Ability to complete training for applicable VA administrative systems, including TRIRIGA when required • Ability to safely conduct inspections and field verification activities in active construction and healthcare environments • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, navigate construction and facility environments, climb stairs and ladders, navigate uneven terrain, and use required PPE • Compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety requirements and OSHA and/or EM 385-1-1 requirements
