📋 Description

• Lead Finance Automation within Data Engineering • Oversee a full-stack team of 5+ data engineers or analytics engineers • Continue staffing the team and contribute to hiring processes • Lead high-impact transformational projects end-to-end in an iterative, data-driven startup environment • Shape the team’s technical roadmap • Contribute to product roadmap and OKR discussions • Drive engineering agile processes • Foster continuous improvement and growth through oversight and mentorship • Ensure team members work on projects aligned with their interests, experience, and business impact • Provide concrete opportunities for team growth • Drive release quality and cadence through code reviews, end-to-end testing, and sustainable development practices • Write important design documents and tackle intricate components, features, or services as an individual contributor when appropriate • Own financial data systems supporting the general ledger, sales tax filing, and month-end close, including dbt models, pipelines, and NetSuite syncs

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years experience as a data or analytics engineer and at least 2 years experience as a people leader • 5+ years building production data pipelines and warehouse models • Strong SQL and working dbt proficiency • Ability to review a model and catch grain, fan-out, and testing gaps • Experience owning financial data that Accounting depends on, including GL feeds, month-end close, reconciliation, audit support, and payment processing • Experience designing and implementing logical, well-architected solutions for complex, large-scale data engineering challenges • Deep experience in database design and warehouse data modeling • Experience with scheduling and orchestration • Track record of turning ambiguous stakeholder requests into scoped, estimated plans and pushing back when capacity is short • Clear communication with accountants and engineers
