• Design and implement dimensional models, star schemas, and snowflake schemas • Build and maintain semantic models as the single source of truth for business reporting • Implement Slowly Changing Dimension (SCD) strategies • Own master data engineering, including golden records, source-of-record authority, and cross-system identity resolution • Establish and enforce data modeling standards • Design and operate real-time and near-real-time pipelines using Kafka, Confluent Cloud, and Fabric Eventstreams • Reduce data staleness through scheduling, incremental load optimization, and pipeline orchestration • Own full-stack performance tuning, including query optimization, partitioning, indexing, Delta table compaction, semantic model refreshes, and Direct Lake readiness • Apply operational engineering practices covering observability, alerting, SLAs, failure recovery, and capacity planning • Design and implement controls for sensitive data such as financials, PII, and HIPAA data • Build robust, scalable, observable ETL/ELT pipelines using watermark-based incremental loads, CDC, batch, and streaming architectures • Ensure pipelines are idempotent, recoverable, and production-hardened • Serve as the senior technical voice in code reviews • Translate business requirements into semantic models and report-layer artifacts • Provide the primary technical interface for Power BI, AI/ML, and application-development consumers • Define and enforce data contracts covering schema stability, access patterns, and SLAs • Own platform developer experience through discoverability, documentation, and onboarding • Set data engineering standards, shape data strategy, mentor others, and influence technical direction
• Required proficiency with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouses, Notebooks, Dataflows Gen2, Event streams, Semantic Models, and Direct Lake mode • Required Power BI report development, dataset/semantic model design, and DAX proficiency • Required SQL Server, Azure SQL, or Postgres query optimization, schema design, and stored procedures • Required Azure DevOps Git-based development workflows and CI/CD for data pipelines • Demonstrated use of AI coding assistants in a production engineering workflow • Ability to critically evaluate, edit, and improve AI-generated code and artifacts • Understanding of where AI accelerates work and where it introduces risk • Preferred familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, ADLS Gen2, and Event Hubs • Preferred experience in a private equity-backed or multi-entity portfolio company environment • Preferred exposure to MDM platforms such as Profisee, Semarchy, Ataccama, or equivalent • Preferred Confluent Cloud or Apache Kafka streaming ingestion experience • Preferred familiarity with cross-tenant Azure/Fabric architecture • Preferred background in business analysis, solutions architecture, or pre-sales engineering • Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Engineer certifications preferred
