• Guide business owners through the process to sell their business to their employees, including analyzing the opportunities and risks associated with the sale, evaluating the sale proceeds, estate impact, tax outcomes, decision-making and governance, long-term company stability, and employee benefits • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate transaction structures, operating forecasts, financing alternatives, cash flow generation, debt repayment capacity, and scenario analyses that support client decision-making and long-term ownership transition planning • Translate complex information regarding financial, legal, estate, and tax matters in terms that clients can understand so they can make values-aligned decisions • Collaborate with and project manage trust, estate, and corporate attorneys to ensure clients receive the best legal advice and their goals are integrated into the legal documentation for the transaction • Collaborate with clients’ accounting and tax professionals to ensure clients receive thorough and actionable guidance with respect to the employee ownership sale and post-sale tax outcomes • Facilitate employee engagement meetings to help employees understand the impact of the employee ownership sale • Prepare clear, decision-oriented client deliverables, including financial models, scenario analyses, and recommendations that synthesize goals, risks, tradeoffs, and key transaction and governance terms • Develop long-term, high-trust relationships with clients • Support the advisory team in improving and standardizing financial models, valuation analyses, transaction structuring tools, and automation of financial analysis • Support our continuous learning culture by ensuring that learnings about our clients are captured and shared across the organization to contribute to long term company strategy
• Education in business, finance, entrepreneurship, public policy, sustainability, or a related program is a plus, however we place equal value on relevant work experience that demonstrates the skills and character traits needed to be successful in this role • 3+ years of experience in a client-facing advisory role navigating complex business, legal, and/or financial decisions; such as in any of the following: corporate finance, corporate development, valuation, wealth management, financial services, management consulting, or paralegal with a particular focus on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions for small and mid-sized businesses, and/or trust and estate law • Experience developing multi-year operating forecasts, cash flow projections, financing models, or transaction analyses for privately held businesses is a plus • First-hand experience (either personal or professional) that provides a knowledgeable and compassionate understanding of the decisions a business owner will face when they are ready to transition out of owning their company is a plus • Experience building scalable systems and processes in an early-stage, entrepreneurial environment is a plus
