• Teach Public Safety Leadership & Organizational Management courses remotely in an online, asynchronous format • Maintain an active classroom presence at least 5 days per week • Introduce courses with welcome announcements and drive discussions • Enrich standardized curriculum with professional expertise and real-world examples • Foster an inclusive, culturally responsive learning environment • Respond to learner inquiries and return feedback and final grades within expected timeframes • Monitor student engagement using available data tools • Conduct proactive outreach to at-risk students • Collaborate with success coaches, academic staff, and portfolio directors • Refer struggling students to UMGC support resources • Participate in the faculty community, Program Hub, and ongoing training • Teach 8-week, 3-credit courses typically serving 25–35 students
• Master’s in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning • Professional experience in Public Safety and/or Criminal Justice • Applicants must have and be able to maintain their own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach • Student-centered approach rooted in empathy, flexibility, professional integrity, and cultural responsiveness • Terminal degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety or a related field is preferred • Experience as a public safety administrator is preferred • Experience teaching adult learners in an online, asynchronous environment is preferred • Prior postsecondary teaching experience is preferred • Active engagement in the discipline’s professional community is preferred • Resume/Curriculum Vitae, cover letter, and unofficial transcripts required for submission • International degrees may require translation/degree evaluation from a NACES approved vendor
