📋 Description

• Set technical direction across backend, frontend, data, and third-party systems, balancing technical investments with product delivery • Communicate technical strategy transparently to the team and leadership • Take holistic ownership of complex systems spanning billing, accounting, member eligibility, and enrollment • Define durable strategic roadmaps and drive cross-functional alignment • Recruit, mentor, retain, and develop engineers, engineering managers, and team leads • Partner with engineering, product, data science, and operations to align programs and measure impact • Balance sustainable, high-impact projects with rapid software delivery • Drive continuous improvement across codebases, architecture, and engineering processes • Develop customer understanding and shape product direction • Track projects through successful completion and ensure work reaches users and drives outcomes • Follow Virta’s security and privacy procedures when handling sensitive patient information

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience managing and providing technical leadership to engineering teams • Proven track record of hiring, coaching, or developing engineering managers or team leads • Deep technical expertise across backend, frontend, data, and integrations to third-party systems • Strong familiarity with distributed services using Python and/or Go • Experience owning complex transactional systems in billing, financial accounting, membership eligibility, or customer enrollment • Track record of building, mentoring, and scaling diverse, inclusive, high-performing engineering teams • Ability to motivate teams and instill a strong sense of ownership • Ability to thrive in a heavily cross-functional environment and drive projects to completion • Ability to work with product partners and help set product vision for ambiguous projects • Experience in a HIPAA-compliant or similarly regulated environment is a nice-to-have • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States • Must follow security and privacy procedures for sensitive patient information governed by HIPAA
