• Review new protocols, amendments, and investigator-initiated concept studies to identify procedures and services and create billing budgets • Collaborate with study leads and principal investigators to distinguish standard-of-care from research procedures • Coordinate with pharmacy, nursing, laboratory, imaging, and other departments to accurately document study requirements • Prepare sponsor budgets using internal costs, historical study metrics, and sponsor proposals • Negotiate and finalize budgets with sponsors • Facilitate inclusion of budgets in formal clinical trial agreements with the University contracts office • Coordinate with regulatory staff to ensure consent forms accurately identify study-paid versus insurance-billed procedures • Review final clinical trial agreements line by line for alignment with agreed budget terms • Prepare individual study plans for study coordinators and supporting departments • Coordinate billing and collection activities with study financial contacts • Provide billing plans to University and Hospital research billing compliance offices • Clarify, correct, and update billing plans throughout study lifecycles • Troubleshoot billing compliance problems and questions as the point of contact
• Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum education • 5 years of work experience in finance or business management areas • Ability to review clinical trial protocols and identify study-related procedures and services • Experience preparing and negotiating clinical trial budgets • Ability to distinguish standard-of-care from research procedures for billing • Ability to coordinate with sponsors, principal investigators, regulatory staff, contracts, billing, and clinical departments • Computer applications, databasing, and spreadsheets skills preferred • No specific certification or professional license required • Driver’s license not required
