📋 Description

• Assist with complex and significant banking and finance disputes • Apply specialist resources, research capability, and AFCA’s dispute resolution framework • Collaborate with experienced Ombudsmen, lawyers, and industry experts • Deliver independent, fair, and balanced decisions • Analyse complex legal issues and apply sound judgement • Contribute to outcomes impacting consumers, small businesses, and the financial services sector • Serve as a Board-appointed Ombudsman for a three-year term on a per-engagement basis

🎯 Requirements

• Accomplished senior lawyer, former Partner, barrister, executive legal leader, or banking and finance professional • Deep banking and finance industry expertise • Sound judgement and a strong track record of achievement • Experience with banking regulation, Banking Codes of Practice, contract law, insolvency, securities, lending, and dispute resolution • Legal qualifications • Substantial senior-level experience within banking and finance, a tribunal, regulator, external dispute resolution scheme, or related environment • Ability to navigate complex legal and commercial issues with credibility, pragmatism, and fairness • Ability to communicate with influence and empathy • Ability to balance independence with collaboration • Commitment to fair, objective outcomes and high standards of integrity and impartiality
