📋 Description

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team • Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems and support the team throughout delivery • Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle • Participate in ideation, articulate technical constraints, and partner on risk and trade-off decisions • Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology, and business issues • Create and monitor metrics supporting operations and availability of team artifacts • Escalate issues and support keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts • Set and improve code review and design standards • Advocate for engineering standards through writing and tech talks • Develop talent by providing feedback and guidance and leading by example • Design and build backend systems supporting millisecond transaction processing, ledgering, and reconciliation for Affirm's transparent credit-card products

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer • Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale • Experience with technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes • Experience shipping front-end applications • Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components • Ability to create elegant, simple, extensible designs • Ability to write high-quality, maintainable code • Proficiency making significant changes in large codebases safely • Experience developing tools and practices that support safe changes • Demonstrated ownership of professional growth and proactive feedback-seeking • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team
