📋 Description

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long time scale • Connect technical strategy with critical, business-impacting projects • Collaborate with ML Platform, product, engineering, and risk leadership • Shape long-term modeling capabilities for scalable international expansion • Define and advocate technical solutions and operational processes • Set code review and design standards • Foster a culture of quality and ownership • Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example • Build production-grade machine learning models powering credit lending decisions across Europe and Australia • Predict repayment behavior and optimize loan offers to borrowers • Design, implement, and scale advanced machine learning solutions • Mentor engineers and contribute to a long-term machine learning strategy

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of experience researching, designing, deploying, and operating large-scale, real-time machine learning systems; a relevant PhD can count for up to 2 years of experience • Strong Python skills and experience writing production-quality code • Experience building and evaluating models for tabular classification problems • Experience with gradient-boosted decision trees such as LightGBM/XGBoost • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch • Experience with distributed data processing or parallel compute frameworks such as Spark or Ray • Experience with ML lifecycle tooling for training orchestration, experimentation, and model monitoring, such as Kubeflow, Airflow, or MLflow • Proficiency using AI-powered developer tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor • Strong engineering skills and ability to provide hands-on technical leadership • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team
