📋 Description

• Build and own backend building blocks used by every Alan product • Develop and productize the events pipeline using a PostgreSQL outbox, Redis Streams, and an S3 archive • Enable product teams to use backend platform components independently • Build data replication capabilities between services • Develop tools and processes for extracting capabilities from the monolith into scalable services • Create service templates, service APIs, cross-service tracing, and dependency management • Operate and define limits, SLOs, and capacity for queues, cache, and the transaction layer • Establish backend development rules and direction with other engineering teams • Deploy daily and own systems throughout their lifecycle • Collaborate with product and engineering teams as an enabler and platform-as-a-product partner

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with code other teams depend on • Experience owning production libraries, frameworks, pipelines, or internal platforms • Daily experience with distributed systems, including events, messaging, delivery guarantees, ordering, idempotence, retries, data replication, consistency, and transactions • In-depth PostgreSQL knowledge, including transactions, locks, replication, and query plans • Experience splitting a monolith or building services while production remained operational • Experience measuring before optimizing and setting SLOs and alerts • English working proficiency; French is not required • Experience designing and maintaining internal services, APIs, or SDKs • Ability to turn complex problems into elegant solutions • Ability to understand the rationale behind technical decisions • Collaborative, humble, and motivated by enabling others • Fluency in English • Must be legally eligible to work in France, Belgium, or Spain • Must be currently based in or willing to relocate to France, Spain, or Belgium • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Software Engineer
