📋 Description

• Own backend building blocks used by every Alan product • Develop and productize the events pipeline using a Postgres outbox, Redis Streams, and an S3 archive • Enable product teams to use backend platform tools independently • Build data replication mechanisms between services • Develop service templates, service APIs, cross-service tracing, and dependency management to support monolith decomposition • Define and manage the shared runtime, including queues, cache, transaction layer, limits, SLOs, and capacity headroom • Establish backend engineering rules and direction with other engineering teams • Deploy daily and own systems through production • Collaborate with product teams as platform customers and influence engineering practices without direct authority • Create framing documents and decision records • Pilot incremental changes and turn successful approaches into playbooks

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience • Experience building and owning code other teams depend on, including libraries, frameworks, pipelines, or internal platforms • Production ownership experience • Daily use of distributed systems, including events and messaging, delivery guarantees, ordering, idempotence, retries, data replication, consistency, and transactions • In-depth PostgreSQL knowledge, including transactions, locks, replication, and query plans • Experience splitting a monolith or building services incrementally while production remained operational • Experience measuring before optimizing and setting SLOs and alerts for owned systems • English working proficiency • Legally eligible to work in France, Belgium, or Spain • French is not required • Python experience is not required • Healthcare technology interest • AI interest for redefining roles and enabling scalability
