📋 Description

• Own customer contracts end to end, including NDAs, pilot and production agreements, renewals, DPAs, GTCs, R&D agreements, group agreements, and partnerships • Draft, negotiate, and close contracts with marketplaces across Europe, the US, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East • Build and maintain go-to-market legal frameworks, including templates, standard and fallback positions, a negotiation playbook, and a commitments and renewals register • Own data and model terms covering processing, learning, retention, ownership, and performance commitments • Lead data protection and AI compliance across GDPR, the Swiss FADP, the EU AI Act, US state privacy law, and international transfers • Run security and compliance reviews with enterprise customers alongside Engineering, including vendor due diligence, DPIAs, transfer assessments, SOC 2, and customer questionnaires • Partner with the CEO, Sales, Customer Success, and Engineering on contracts and deal execution • Handle corporate and investor documentation, employment matters across 10+ countries, intellectual property, and decisions regarding outside counsel • Establish the legal function and deliver contract frameworks enabling Sales to close standard deals independently

🎯 Requirements

• Qualified lawyer, with a minimum of 6 years in a top-tier firm in M&A, venture or technology, followed by in-house experience at a technology company, ideally as its first lawyer • Experience negotiating and closing technology contracts, including licensing, API and SaaS agreements, data processing agreements, and partnerships • Ability to write simple, clear contracts • Ability to read API specifications and data flows and translate them into contractual terms • Strong knowledge of GDPR, international transfers, and the EU AI Act • Familiarity with Swiss law governing contracts • Ability to work cross-border, including with US counterparties or US-law contracts • Native-level English drafting and negotiation skills • Eligible to work in Europe
