📋 Description

• Architect, build, and maintain backend systems for card issuing and card lifecycle management • Lead the technical design and implementation of card certification processes, including Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, and Google Pay onboarding programs • Define and drive system architecture, service boundaries, and integration patterns for card platform services • Ensure system reliability, scalability, and compliance with payment network standards • Collaborate with product, compliance, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications • Establish engineering best practices, code quality standards, and technical documentation for the team • Work hands-on as a builder rather than in a pure advisory role • Architect and build card-related systems end to end • Design scalable, secure, and compliant infrastructure supporting card systems and lifecycle management

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with strong Java / Spring expertise • Direct experience building or maintaining a card system • Experience with card certification processes and/or card onboarding programs • Strong system design and architecture skills • Experience with distributed systems and high-throughput payment infrastructure • Understanding of card network standards, payment flows, and compliance requirements • Preferred: experience at a fintech, startup, or crypto company that has issued cards • Preferred: familiarity with card lifecycle management, tokenization, and payment gateway integrations • Preferred: experience working in agile, fast-paced environments with short release cycles
