📋 Description

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team • Lead engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems • Support team members throughout delivery • Collaborate with product management, design and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle • Participate in ideation and articulate technical constraints • Partner on decisions considering risks and trade-offs • Identify and lead resolution of project, process, technology and business issues • Set or improve code review and design standards • Advocate for engineering standards through writing and tech talks • Develop talent through feedback, guidance and leading by example • Participate in the required on-call rotation • Build and maintain transactional communication services delivering email, SMS and push notifications for Affirm customers • Contribute to platform modernization, high availability and internationalization initiatives

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python • Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL/Dynamo and Kubernetes • Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple and extensible designs • Ability to write high-quality, understandable code • Proficiency making significant changes in large code bases • Experience developing tools and practices enabling safe changes • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field • On-call rotation is required
