📋 Description

• Lead the CONT engineering team within the Search domain • Foster a trusting environment that enables consistently high-quality software delivery at a predictable pace • Combine engineering and people leadership responsibilities and, where appropriate, contribute hands-on to development • Share responsibility with the Product Owner for delivery, direction, and quality • Create focus, reduce context switching, and continuously improve processes and time to market • Drive the sustainable evolution of technical standards and architectures • Promote autonomy, ownership, and fast team decision-making • Ensure alignment with other teams and business objectives • Support the team’s interests, development, and engagement • Mentor and support engineers in their professional growth • Take responsibility for performance management and hiring • Collaborate with Agile Coaches, Staff Engineers, and Heads of Engineering to further develop the engineering organization • Develop content management infrastructure and systems for the online shop and app, and automate content maintenance processes • Work in a remote-distributed team across Germany, with regular on-site team and domain days

🎯 Requirements

• Experience in people leadership • Intrinsic motivation to support colleagues’ personal and technical development • Ability to switch between context-dependent roles and responsibilities • Ability to recognize and shape team dynamics • Active listening skills and the ability to resolve tensions constructively • Several years of hands-on software engineering experience in complex system landscapes • Ideally, experience with Kotlin, Java, and Spring Boot • Strong knowledge of software architecture, particularly Domain-Driven Design • Experience with production-grade software architectures and establishing technical standards • Experience driving architectural decisions • Knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD practices • Experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL in production environments • Openness to AI-assisted engineering practices; practical experience is a plus • Clear, solution-oriented, and goal-focused communication • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders • Very good German language skills, at least C1 level • You do not need to meet all of the qualifications listed
