📋 Description

• Build and operate the data platform behind fleet telematics products on AWS • Develop ingestion pipelines, alerting and reporting systems, and customer-facing data features at production scale • Own critical workstreams end-to-end, from architecture and design documents through implementation, deployment, and production monitoring • Build streaming and batch pipelines using Kinesis, Flink, EMR, and Airflow-orchestrated ETL • Implement data reliability and quality controls, including deduplication, schema validation, completeness checks, and root-cause investigations • Build Grafana mission-control dashboards with recency/frequency KPIs • Enforce manifest-driven data retention across RDS, DynamoDB, S3, and OpenSearch, including organization-specific policies and audit trails • Optimize performance and costs through database routing, query optimization, OpenSearch tuning, and AWS cost optimization • Participate in sprint-based delivery, daily standups, ticket triage, and design sessions

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years in data engineering or backend engineering with heavy data focus • Strong Python; production experience with AWS Lambda and serverless patterns • Deep SQL and relational database skills (PostgreSQL/MySQL), including query optimization, partitioning, and locking behavior • Hands-on experience with several of: Kinesis or Kafka, Airflow, Flink, EMR/Spark, DynamoDB, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch • Experience debugging data quality issues in production and building validation/monitoring to prevent recurrence • Comfortable owning ambiguous problems end-to-end: writing design docs, scoping tickets, and driving to deployment • Grafana/CloudWatch observability tooling is nice to have • Athena federated queries is nice to have • Data retention and GDPR/compliance-driven data lifecycle work is nice to have • Exposure to LLM/GenAI tooling is nice to have • Telematics, IoT, or high-volume time-series data domain experience is nice to have • AWS cost optimization experience is nice to have
