📋 Description

• Conduct mechanical design and analysis, including 3D modeling, prototyping, component selection and validation, and design for manufacturing/assembly • Work with suppliers to develop and specify engineering components within industrial design CAD constraints • Partner with suppliers, Quality Engineering, Product, Customer Support, and other US-based teams to resolve technical issues and improve manufacturability • Apply root cause and corrective action, statistical process control, and Six Sigma practices as applicable • Oversee manufacturing processes to ensure production efficiency, timely delivery, and Caraway quality standards • Identify opportunities to improve cost, quality, and efficiency • Lead projects from start to finish, aligning vendors and internal teams on timelines, budgets, and quality standards • Support supplier sourcing and selection through technical vendor evaluation • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and mechanical design and manufacturing best practices • Direct and communicate project details to factory teams and external partners

🎯 Requirements

• Background in mechanical or systems engineering • 7–10 years of relevant experience; specifically 7+ years in mechanical engineering, mechanical design, manufacturing, or a related role • Experience in kitchen and home goods required • Direct kitchen appliance experience required • Fluency in Chinese and English, with excellent written and spoken communication skills in both • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD • Experience with mechanical design and analysis tools • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, casting, injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, coatings, and assembly • Ability to create looks-like and works-like prototypes • Ability to create and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills • Ability to work independently and make sound engineering decisions with limited oversight • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Strong project management skills, including prioritization, deadline management, and adapting to changing project needs • Ability to travel 25–50% of the time to manufacturing partner facilities, sometimes on short notice, for up to 2 weeks at a time • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field • Familiarity with supplier management and sourcing practices preferred • Knowledge of ISO 9001, ASME, and ASTM preferred
