πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Undertake research and draft reports, briefings and shorter publications examining and proposing solutions to prevent or mitigate deadly conflict, particularly regarding the foreign policies of Gulf Arab states and their effects on conflict elsewhere β€’ Champion Crisis Group policy positions and recommendations regarding Gulf Arab states β€’ Represent the organisation at events and in the media locally, nationally and internationally, as appropriate β€’ Conduct extensive field research in the foreign policies of Gulf Arab states and their effects on conflicts elsewhere β€’ Provide clear and concise written analyses in detailed reports, briefing papers, podcasts, op-eds and other shorter derivatives β€’ Propose policy recommendations and initiatives for conflict actors and political, civil society and other stakeholders at national, regional and international levels β€’ Advocate Crisis Group policy positions and recommendations regarding conflict β€’ Provide support to the Project Director for Crisis Group activities and advocacy in the region and globally β€’ Complete administrative duties, including activity tracking and expense management β€’ Supervise consultants and/or stringers as required

🎯 Requirements

β€’ At least an M.A. degree in international relations, political science, journalism, sociology or equivalent through experience β€’ Current or prior extended residence in the Gulf β€’ Three to five years of professional experience in government, academia, international organisations, NGOs or journalism β€’ Strong writing skills and the ability to formulate well-targeted policy recommendations β€’ Proven research and analytical skills, and ability to propose and test policy interventions β€’ Deep knowledge of the region’s key political, foreign policy and conflict-related issues β€’ A proven strong network in governmental, non-governmental, media and civil society circles in Gulf Arab states and the region β€’ Fluency in English β€’ Fluency in Arabic is desirable β€’ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including good public presentation skills, and a strong capacity for effective teamwork β€’ The successful candidate should be based in the Gulf region β€’ Ability to be based in a Gulf-region country without a sponsored work permit
