📋 Description

• Set iOS technical direction across several mobile teams • Work across domain boundaries with product, backend, platform, QA and other mobile disciplines • Consolidate separate market applications into OneApp on one codebase across Europe and beyond • Own cross-team technical decisions rather than a feature backlog • Define architecture standards, quality gates and testing policies adopted by other teams • Extract features from a monolith into meaningful modules • Publish architecture and establish ownership and review rules for shared code • Create phasing plans for Swift 6 strict concurrency adoption • Turn Apple platform deadlines into costed plans • Deliver roadmaps and resolve technical debt • Set verification rules for AI-generated code and measure return • Mentor senior engineers and mediate technical disagreements • Build consensus without line authority and review for standards, performance and security • Partner with Staff engineers across Android, backend and QA • Support CI/CD, release automation, macOS CI infrastructure, testing, observability and design-system initiatives

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of production iOS experience • Staff or principal scope across multiple teams, or technical lead experience for a whole iOS platform or several parallel iOS projects • Experience with multi-market or white-label apps • Proven record of shipping a single codebase across several markets or brands • Knowledge of MVVM, Clean Architecture, SOLID, unidirectional and composable architectures, Apple's architectures or TCA • Experience with modularisation, feature extraction, architecture publishing, onboarding domains, ownership and review rules for shared code • Deep Swift and modern concurrency experience, including async/await, structured concurrency, actors, Sendable and cancellation • Experience introducing Swift 6 strict concurrency into a large mixed codebase • Deep understanding of UIKit and SwiftUI, with proven incremental migration experience • Deep understanding of databases and database migration processes • Knowledge of mobile security, including SSL pinning, App Attest, App Check, DeviceCheck, native OAuth, Keychain and secrets management • Experience with SPM, CocoaPods, hybrid dependency setups and vendor-locked binary SDKs • Experience writing ADRs, RFCs and technical proposals • Ability to define quality gates and testing policy • Business judgement and ability to quantify technical debt and create costed plans • Proven record of delivering roadmaps and resolving technical debt • Whole-SDLC understanding beyond coding • Advanced AI-assisted engineering; Claude, Copilot or Grok hands-on experience is a strong plus • Experience setting verification rules for AI-generated code and measuring return • Ability to mentor senior engineers, mediate technical disagreements, build consensus and make decisions under ambiguity • Cross-discipline partnership with Android, backend and QA • Strongly desired CI/CD and release automation experience with GitLab CI, Fastlane, TestFlight and multi-market/multi-scheme pipelines • Experience with macOS CI infrastructure, runner provisioning, Xcode versions, simulator runtimes, signing, certificates and fleet reproducibility • Experience with appearance and orientation migrations, including Liquid Glass, landscape/adaptive layouts, iPad, foldables and resizable windows • Test strategy at scale using XCTest, Swift Testing, snapshot testing, UI test architecture and flaky-test control • Observability experience with crash reporting, MetricKit, cold-start and time-to-home budgets • Design system experience, including reusable components and accessibility compliance • Apple Watch and watchOS experience is nice to have • CarPlay, App Clips, notification and app extensions experience is nice to have • Familiarity with SwiftGen, Sourcery, payments or fintech SDK integration, Instruments, metrics, tracing and the Android ecosystem is nice to have
