📋 Description

• Respond to a telephone hotline providing crisis support to people bereaved through suicide, engaging in self-harm, experiencing suicidal ideation, and concerned friends or family members • Conduct risk assessments, including lethality assessments for suicide cases • Provide evidence-based professional crisis counselling services and personal support using de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques • Assess callers' needs and triage for immediate safety, emergency medical attention, or appropriate service referrals • Maintain accurate and detailed call reports on key issues and referrals actioned • Comply with responsibilities under the Data Protection Acts 1988, 2003 & 2018 (GDPR) • Support the development of appropriate crisis management plans for callers in crisis • Make quick in-the-moment decisions when unsure how to proceed

🎯 Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in helplines, in a paid or voluntary capacity • Completed training in Crisis Intervention or Suicide Prevention • Experience working with high-risk clinical situations involving suicide or crisis cases • Appropriate insurance required by the candidate’s country • Ability to maintain emotional composure in high-stress situations and recover from stressful interactions and high-risk cases • Master’s degree in Psychology/Counselling or a relevant field preferred, not required • Background in mental health or emergency services is a plus • Ability to communicate effectively in more than one language is a plus • Professional indemnity insurance is a plus
