• Serve as a subject matter expert on cancer registry data standards, abstraction workflows, and reporting requirements • Provide structured walkthroughs of the registry lifecycle from casefinding through abstraction, coding, QA, submission, and feedback • Advise on data dictionaries, staging schemas, and coding logic used across U.S. registries • Explain registrars’ daily workflows, including interaction with EHRs, pathology feeds, and state/federal reporting systems • Review data models, variable mappings, and automation use cases for consistency with registry standards • Participate in periodic remote review meetings with technical and product teams • Provide occasional feedback on UI/UX mockups, training materials, and registry-related data capture prototypes • Help translate complex oncology data workflows into digital, interoperable systems
• Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential in good standing (required) • 5–10+ years of hands-on experience in cancer registry operations • Experience ideally including both facility-based and central registry settings • Familiarity with cancer case abstraction, staging, and coding conventions • Familiarity with data validation and QA workflows • Familiarity with NAACCR-style data items • Familiarity with common registry abstraction and validation tools • Familiarity with reporting workflows to state or national programs • Understanding of AJCC, TNM, ICD-O, SSDI, and associated coding frameworks • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex registry processes for interdisciplinary teams • Availability for approximately 8–10 hours per week • Ability to collaborate remotely • Screening answers covering cancer registrar experience, registry lifecycle, technical tools, data standards, teaching/advisory experience, availability, and time zones or scheduling preferences
