⢠Review code from other engineers for quality ⢠Implement clean and extensible console control systems ⢠Investigate target-platform performance and modify the game or engine to improve it ⢠Test updated code on target platforms for correctness and performance ⢠Design, test, and debug code independently ⢠Break down large features into engineering tasks and collaborate with engineers to complete them ⢠Mentor engineers in software development best practices ⢠Estimate tasks and deliver them on time ⢠Raise blockers to the project lead ⢠Test and document solutions for developer review and learning ⢠Own large areas of the codebase and complex, mission-critical features ⢠Coordinate with non-engineering team members to deliver features ⢠Determine feature feasibility and propose solutions ⢠Provide programming expertise for large features and architecture suggestions ⢠Conduct code review analysis to anticipate design and implementation problems ⢠Work on Unreal Engine 4 and 5 projects for next-generation consoles
⢠A few years of professional experience working with Unreal Engine ⢠Released games on consoles ⢠C++ proficiency ⢠Ability to deep-dive into and improve the Unreal Engine ⢠Ability to design, test, and debug own code independently ⢠Ability to break down large features into engineering tasks ⢠Ability to mentor engineers in software development best practices ⢠Interest in working on games and tools ⢠Ability to communicate confidently with all company members ⢠Ability to estimate tasks and deliver them timely ⢠Ability to write clear, maintainable, performant code ⢠Ability to implement software engineering best practices across the software development life cycle ⢠Ability to take ownership of large codebase areas and complex or mission-critical features ⢠Ability to coordinate outside the engineering team ⢠Ability to assess feature feasibility and propose solutions ⢠University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline; or relevant professional experience ⢠Japan-based candidates: 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, 2+ years using Unreal Engine 4, and 2+ years developing console games using test kits and dev kits ⢠Overseas-based candidates: 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, 6+ years using Unreal Engine 4, and 6+ years developing console games using test kits and dev kits ⢠Solid software engineering abilities and familiarity with coding patterns ⢠Strong C++ and Unreal Engine debugging experience ⢠Familiarity with source code management systems such as Git, SVN, or Perforce ⢠At least conversational Japanese proficiency (JLPT N3 or above) ⢠English proficiency sufficient to read, write, and discuss technical matters ⢠Preferred: C#, Ruby, Python, shell scripting, Unreal Engine build pipeline, other game engines, and at least one released game
