📋 Description

• Lead the technical direction across several product units • Build and develop the web engineering function practically from scratch • Establish scalable engineering processes, standards, and approaches across product units • Own the technical direction and participate in key technical decisions • Directly manage technical leaders of product units, set business goals, mentor, provide feedback, and support growth • Identify and systematically resolve technical bottlenecks through engineering practices, automation, and AI • Help product teams make better decisions requiring strong technical expertise • Work with company platform teams to formulate technical requests, validate their value, and find optimal solutions • Identify where technical changes can have the greatest business impact and turn them into concrete initiatives • Scale successful engineering solutions across products and units • Deeply engage with the technical context of new directions and own their launches • Remain hands-on when needed rather than working exclusively at the management level

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of commercial development experience • 2+ years of direct engineering-team management • Strong hands-on engineering background • Experience building or substantially restructuring product architecture end-to-end: web + backend • Ability to independently make technical and architectural decisions • Ability to translate business context into technical solutions and a roadmap • Experience working with product teams and understanding engineering’s impact on business metrics • Successful experience using AI in development and willingness to develop an AI-first engineering approach • Readiness to work where processes are not fully defined and much must be created independently • Backend development experience with Node.js • Knowledge of databases, including complex queries, indexes, and working with large tables • Sufficient cross-platform understanding to independently investigate and implement necessary tasks • Understanding of mobile and web product principles and lifecycles • Understanding how to integrate AI/LLM into production products • Understanding how technical decisions affect product metrics and business results • Experience with product analytics and A/B testing, using Amplitude or equivalents • Ability to use data and product analytics for technical decision-making • Understanding of the full product development cycle, from idea and hypothesis validation to release and scaling • Experience with product monitoring, stability, and performance using Sentry, Grafana, or equivalents • Ability to assess technical problems through their impact on users, products, and business • Willingness to seek technical improvement opportunities in development and adjacent areas such as marketing, content, and analytics
