📋 Description

• Open and check assigned Japanese PDF annotation tasks • Confirm pages are Japanese, legible, contain real content, and have no personal details • Identify and bound every meaningful page region • Assign component types and reading-order indexes • Link regions to their parent figures or tables • Transcribe all text faithfully in Japanese script, including handwritten content • Flag illegible source regions • Capture language, document type, source, page dimensions, and table, formula, and handwriting flags • Review colleagues' work end to end as an experienced annotator • Produce human-authored training data for document AI models

🎯 Requirements

• Native Japanese speaker with full command of kanji, hiragana, katakana, furigana, and variant character forms • Professional experience in interpretation, journalism, transcription, translation, editorial work, or comparable document-intensive work • Character-level accuracy and attention to detail • Ability to apply a taxonomy consistently across hundreds of pages • Comfortable with vertical text, multi-column newspapers, exam papers, and handwritten forms • Japanese-language transcription experience • Japanese document familiarity, including handwriting, dense layouts, tables, diagrams, and mixed-script pages • H1-B or STEM OPT candidates are not supported • Must work as an independent contractor
