• Provide independent assurance over the design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of product controls across payment, wallet, settlement, switch, and related products • Evaluate product risk exposure and control maturity before products are scaled • Maintain a risk-ranked Product Audit Universe and own the annual Product Audit Plan • Review PRDs, business rules, transaction workflows, product scenarios, and Maker-Checker enforcement before production releases • Conduct continuous audits of live payment products, detecting configuration drift and emerging transaction-risk patterns • Perform mandatory pre-production Product Audit reviews and confirm reconciliation, exception, and fallback controls are functional • Interrogate the Fee Engine using SQL to validate commissions, VAT, discounts, splits, reversals, refunds, and chargebacks • Trace fund flows and assess synchronisation between wallet sub-ledgers and the General Ledger • Audit product changes, configuration integrity, master data, and formal change-management processes • Assess vendor-managed product controls, SLA performance, third-party API changes, and single-vendor dependency risks • Advise product and engineering teams on control-by-design and participate in design and architecture reviews • Lead post-incident reviews and produce root-cause analysis reports; track corrective actions to closure • Assess compliance with CBN guidelines, PCI DSS, NDPR, and consumer protection obligations • Prepare risk-rated reports for Executive Management and the Audit Committee • Maintain the Product Risk Register and deliver quarterly control-maturity updates
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or a related quantitative discipline • 3–5+ years of experience in Product Audit, Systems Audit, Financial Data Analytics, or Payment Operations within a fintech or financial services environment • Demonstrated hands-on familiarity with payment product architecture, wallet systems, and regulated payment flows in a Nigerian or comparable market context • Advanced SQL for independent data extraction and transaction interrogation • Knowledge of payment systems architecture, including wallets, card processing, direct debit, settlement, and reconciliation • Basic API and integration literacy • End-to-end transaction lifecycle knowledge: authorisation, posting, clearing, settlement, and exception handling • Ability to analyse PRDs and process flows and translate product documentation into control flowcharts • Mathematical precision in fee calculations, interest computations, and split payment structures • Pattern recognition for anomalies, outliers, and irregularities in large transaction datasets • Risk-based audit methodology using IIA Standards and COSO framework • Control design logic and evaluation • Root cause analysis • Knowledge of CBN payment system regulations, PCI DSS, NDPR, and Nigerian consumer protection obligations • Proficiency with SQL platforms such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MSSQL • Proficiency with Advanced Excel or Google Sheets • Familiarity with Claude or AI tools • Stakeholder engagement, professional scepticism, independence, and risk-rated report writing • CISA, CIA, or CFE preferred; ACA/ACCA acceptable when combined with strong technical product experience and data analytics
