âą Design and build Home Assistantâs AI foundation, including conversation APIs, LLM integrations, and typed tool layers. âą Create in-product agents that help users build and manage their homes while keeping users in control. âą Connect Home Assistant to the agentic world through open standards such as MCP. âą Grow Assist into a context-aware home management assistant with cross-session memory, documentation, configuration, and troubleshooting capabilities. âą Make AI features discoverable, easy to set up, optional, and easy to disable. âą Build AI-powered workflows for issue triage, review assistance, and contributor tooling. âą Conduct code reviews of teammate and community pull requests. âą Collaborate with the community to investigate and address reported issues. âą Provide input on architectural proposals and codebase changes. âą Work closely with the open-source community to review contributions and integrate them into Home Assistant.
âą 5+ years of experience in Python back-end development. âą 3+ years of experience with asyncio and threading. âą Built and shipped LLM-powered features in production Python, including tool calling, agent loops, streaming, evaluation, and handling model failures. âą Experience building with the Model Context Protocol, including MCP servers or clients, or comparable agent tool-calling interfaces. âą Experience with local, on-device inference, such as Ollama or llama.cpp. âą Practical understanding of language-model strengths and limitations and how to design reliable, private, and safe systems. âą Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. âą Ability to work independently. âą Strong experience working effectively in a remote, asynchronous environment. âą Experience with Git and GitHub. âą Professional fluency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. âą Must be currently based and eligible to work within Europe.
