Orange Sky Australia is a registered charity that provides free mobile laundry and warm shower services and fosters genuine conversation for people experiencing homelessness, hardship, and those affected by natural disasters. Operating over 60 services across every Australian state and territory, it also runs programs for remote communities, schools, and targeted groups (women and families in trial), and coordinates volunteers, corporate partners and donors to support its mission of positively connecting communities.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic leadership and direction to Orange Sky Aotearoa • Monitor financial performance • Oversee the Chief Executive Officer, who sits across Australia and Aotearoa • Fulfil corporate governance and fiduciary obligations and responsibilities • Ensure the long-term sustainability of Orange Sky • Provide culturally safe oversight and guidance aligned with Te Tiriti o Waitangi • Collaborate with the CEO and management team to deliver Orange Sky’s strategic objectives • Attend one board meeting/hui every two months, plus ad hoc meetings and events in New Zealand • Complete 1–2 hours of preparation per meeting • Attend an Orange Sky shift each quarter, depending on location • Serve a 3-year term with potential to extend

🎯 Requirements

• Passion for working collaboratively with the CEO and management team • Demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles • Alignment to te ao Māori • Deep knowledge and cultural insight relating to Te Tiriti o Waitangi • Ability to provide culturally safe oversight and guidance • Ability to fulfil corporate governance and fiduciary obligations with care and due diligence • Ability to provide strategic leadership and direction • Ability to monitor financial performance and oversee the Chief Executive Officer • CV and a 1-page cover letter required for application
