📋 Description

• Develop new features in PHP and CakePHP for existing products used daily by over half a million users • Maintain, improve, and fix bugs in the existing codebase • Transform functional specifications into reliable API workflows while ensuring backward compatibility and security • Participate in code reviews • Write unit tests targeting 80% coverage • Develop end-to-end tests for critical user journeys • Ensure compatibility across platforms and environments • Optimize code for performance and scalability • Support the support team in refining feature requests and bug reports • Support product owners with functional approaches to new business cases • Define technical approaches to functional problems • Identify and propose structural or architectural improvements • Contribute to online documentation, OpenAPI specifications, SDKs, and user and admin guides • Share findings and best practices through documentation and presentations • Assist release activities and rollout readiness to minimize downtime • Collaborate with SRE teams on CI/CD pipelines • Investigate incidents and implement fixes to restore system stability • Participate in blameless postmortems and root cause analysis • Manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables • Communicate progress, risks, and decisions to the team • Support coworkers through pairing and knowledge sharing • Perform risk analysis for changes and propose security mitigations • Follow secure coding and design practices • Monitor and patch dependency vulnerabilities • Ensure compliance with GDPR and other data protection regulations • Collaborate on company policies and risk registers • Help enforce least-privilege access and segregation of responsibilities • Participate in security exercises and refine crisis-management procedures

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor of Science or university degree relevant to Software Engineering (e.g. Computer Science, Electronics) and/or comparable work experience/certification • 3+ years of experience building PHP applications • Proficiency in building back-end applications with CakePHP, Laravel, or Symfony • Proficiency in testing applications with PHPUnit • Familiarity with OpenAPI Specifications • Familiarity with Git and branching models • Strong understanding of OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities and secure coding practices • Proficiency with another programming language: JavaScript, Bash, Python, Go, or Rust • Fluent in English, verbal and written; preferably one other language • Strong analytical skills and a simple solution-oriented mindset • Ability to balance technical excellence with business priorities and strategic goals • Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating effectively within a team • Receptive to feedback and able to collaborate effectively in a team setting • Inspired by cybersecurity or privacy-related issues and understanding of open source and ethical web principles
