📋 Description

• Improve the accuracy, responsiveness, and robustness of indoor-outdoor positioning algorithms across venues, devices, and real-world conditions • Research, develop, and evaluate classical estimation and machine learning positioning algorithms using real venue data • Investigate emerging positioning technologies using development kits, reference hardware, and measurement setups • Build and use offline replay, accuracy regression suites, and simulation tools • Validate algorithms on real iOS and Android devices • Develop production code in the shared C++ engine and native iOS and Android sensor and radio scanning layers • Optimize performance, memory use, thread safety, and test coverage • Convert field issues and unexpected sensor behavior into reproducible test cases and engine improvements • Use AI coding agents daily and review and validate their output • Shape technical decisions through experiments and code review • Document technical reasoning and contribute invention disclosures where warranted • Own technical areas, deliver measurable positioning improvements, diagnose customer-venue field issues, and help establish measurement standards

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including performance-sensitive production code • Strong grounding in probabilistic state estimation and sensor fusion, including recursive Bayesian filtering and particle-based methods • Solid applied mathematics, including linear algebra, probability, numerical methods, and geometry • Experience with noisy, real-world sensor time series, recorded traces, root-cause isolation, measurable validation, and automated tests • Daily use of AI coding agents and basic understanding of context windows, tool use, prompting, instruction files, and common failure modes • Working knowledge of iOS or Android development sufficient to build and debug on real devices and modify native platform code • Comfort with build systems, Git, compilers, sanitizers, profilers, and cross-platform constraints • Clear technical communication and collaborative approach to technical disagreements and code review • Professional fluency in written and spoken English • Preferred: experience in indoor positioning, GNSS, robotics, SLAM, pedestrian dead reckoning, or RF signal processing • Preferred: hands-on experience with Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or other AI coding agents • Preferred: modern C++, Swift, Kotlin, or shared native cores in iOS and Android apps • Preferred: mobile positioning constraints, including background execution, sensor/radio scanning APIs, power budgets, and device differences • Preferred: BLE, UWB, or Wi-Fi ranging and positioning • Preferred: computational geometry, geospatial data, map processing, wayfinding, or graph algorithms • Preferred: machine learning applied to motion or signal models • Preferred: simulation or visualization tools for algorithm development • Preferred: MS or PhD in a relevant field, research publications, or equivalent demonstrated depth
