📋 Description

• Build strong, long-term relationships with farmers • Manage the full livestock procurement process for sheep, beef, dairy and venison • Identify supply and negotiate pricing • Coordinate delivery and payment • Resolve procurement-related issues • Lead livestock planning and supplier engagement • Share insights on market trends and emerging opportunities • Support product, programme and brand development • Secure quality stock and promote the procurement approach • Grow a reliable supplier network • Identify new suppliers and support practical business-growth strategies • Work alongside producers to drive better on-farm outcomes • Forecast supply and assess livestock quality • Manage procurement in line with market conditions and programme requirements • Provide timely support to suppliers • Share insights and track outcomes using digital tools and reporting systems

🎯 Requirements

• Strong understanding of the livestock industry from previous experience, ideally with a strong store stock background • Ability to build trusted relationships that add long-term value for suppliers and the business • Experience forecasting supply, assessing livestock quality, and managing procurement to align with market conditions and programme requirements • Clear and professional communication skills • Ability to provide timely support to suppliers • Understanding of compliance with assurance programmes and animal welfare standards • Strong grasp of livestock procurement, pricing, and transport coordination • Ability to identify supply opportunities and turn insights into action • Proactive approach to promoting programmes, values, and brand in the region • Confidence using digital tools and reporting systems to share insights and track outcomes • Commitment to health and safety, animal welfare, and sustainable farming practices • Practical, solutions-focused mindset and a good eye for stock • Must live in the greater South Otago area, predominantly servicing suppliers in the Owaka catchment • Good understanding of what is needed in the South Otago region
