📋 Description

• Own the safety of robotic cells as a product from initial design through deployment at customer sites • Define the safety concept for the cell platform, identifying hazards and safety functions assessed once versus application-specific changes • Provide safety input to robotics software from the first design review • Define safety requirements in product and application requirements documents • Sign off each solution design • Specify and validate functional safety functions in safety PLCs and robot safety controllers • Prepare risk assessments, the CE technical file, and the Declaration of Conformity for each cell • Support the transition to the new EU Machinery Regulation • Define site safety for deployments, including layout, guarding, operator access, and acceptance-test safety checks • Establish rules for safely testing cells in R&D, including Reduced Safety Mode • Investigate root causes of safety faults and incidents • Create safety content for cell manuals and answer customer safety questions during presales • Collaborate with product, robotics, software, mechanical, forward-deployed, and commercial teams • Take over safety sign-off for cells in progress and track open items • Ensure safety recommendations shape application and software designs before construction • Enable new applications to require safety assessment only for their changes

🎯 Requirements

• At least five years of machinery safety work on industrial machines or robotic cells • Experience preparing or signing risk assessments and CE marking documentation • Functional safety experience specifying and validating safety functions on safety PLCs, robot safety controllers, and safety sensors such as radar, scanners, and light curtains • Working knowledge of EU machinery law, including the new Machinery Regulation • Knowledge of ISO 12100 for risk assessment and ISO 13849 for functional safety • Ability to read software designs and discuss algorithm behavior around people with robotics engineers • Experience making safety decisions where no standard provided a direct answer and documenting the reasoning • Ability to uphold safety standards under schedule pressure • Clear written English • Willingness to travel about 25% of the time • A recognised machinery safety qualification such as TÜV Functional Safety Engineer or CMSE is advantageous • Experience with collaborative or fenceless robot applications is advantageous • Experience integrating safety into robot motion, control, or perception software is advantageous • Experience at a machine builder or integrator that scaled from a handful of machines per year to dozens is advantageous • Ability to work remotely within three hours of Central European Time • Ability to travel to Ljubljana, Slovenia at least once per quarter • Must address eligibility to work in the EU or UK and visa sponsorship requirements in the application
