📋 Description

• Use AI agents such as Claude Code and Cursor to design, build, debug and optimize • Own the Databricks data platform behind Derin, from interview and survey data ingestion through analytics-ready tables • Design and build reliable batch and incremental Databricks pipelines using Lakeflow Spark Declarative Pipelines, Jobs and Delta Lake • Govern data workloads in Unity Catalog • Help migrate the production data layer to Databricks Lakebase managed Postgres, including synced tables, migration and cutover • Keep the serving layer fast for APIs • Model survey and conversation data in Delta Lake for downstream analytics products • Implement data-quality checks, tests, lineage, monitoring and alerting • Convert scientists’ Databricks notebooks and analyses into production-grade reusable pipelines • Build privacy and security controls for sensitive participant data using Unity Catalog access controls, row filters and column masks in a SOC2- and HIPAA-compliant environment • Use Terraform, Databricks Asset Bundles and CI/CD to deploy data workloads across environments • Contribute to the engineering culture and data platform as the company grows • Collaborate with backend engineers, data scientists and product managers

🎯 Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in data engineering, building production pipelines in Python and SQL • Hands-on production experience with Databricks, including Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Lakeflow or Jobs • Strong relational database skills, particularly PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, replication or CDC • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure • Experience with infrastructure as code and CI/CD • Experience modeling data for analytics and BI using dimensional or long/wide formats • Knowledge of data quality and testing • Experience serving data to LLM-powered features is a strong plus • Experience with survey, research, healthcare, HIPAA, GDPR/KVKK, or other regulated data is a plus • Daily use of AI-agentic tools such as Claude Code and Cursor; ability to configure context, rules, MCP servers and subagents and assess output reliability • University degree in Computer Science or a related field • Independent, proactive, end-to-end delivery with minimal supervision • Fluent written and spoken English • Comfortable working remotely with substantial overlap with US Eastern and UK hours • Istanbul-based in Türkiye
