📋 Description

• Design and oversee implementation of an Operational Data Store providing a unified, real-time view of production data • Build low-latency data streams using Kafka or Flink for embedded analytics in customer-facing applications • Establish data contracts with upstream engineering teams for high availability and schema stability • Own transition and scaling of the Analytical Data Store, such as Snowflake, for performance and cost-efficiency • Modernize the transformation layer with ELT patterns and modular data modeling using dbt and Airflow • Build scalable data pipelines supporting enterprise-wide reporting and real-time decision-making • Champion data governance and ensure dashboards and reports use high-quality, audited, documented data • Build data foundations for machine learning, including Feature Stores and automated training and inference pipelines • Architect unstructured-data solutions, including Vector Databases for LLM-based features • Collaborate with Analytics teams to move models from notebooks to production reliably • Mentor and grow a high-performing engineering team and foster DataOps automation, testing, and observability • Manage Data FinOps strategy and balance performance with cloud budget sustainability • Partner with Product and Executive leadership to translate technical roadmaps into business value

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in Data Engineering • At least 3+ years in a formal leadership or management role • Proven experience architecting cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks • Expert-level proficiency in Python and SQL • Proficiency in AWS infrastructure management and event-driven pipelines, including Kinesis, IAM, Monitoring, and IaC frameworks • Hands-on experience with Kafka, Flink, or Spark Streaming • Understanding of moving data in sub-second increments for an operational store • Ability to design ELT/ETL architectures from scratch using dbt, with focus on idempotency, scalability, and error handling • Experience implementing data quality frameworks such as Great Expectations or Monte Carlo • Experience ensuring compliance with GDPR/CCPA • Experience in a product-led organization where engineering is a value-driver • Ability to communicate complex architectural constraints to non-technical partners in terms of business impact and ROI • Proven track record working with Product Managers to ship data-intensive features in an Agile environment
