📋 Description

• Design the financial technology stack for new customers • Determine how Shopify, Amazon, and Walmart sales channels map to QuickBooks/Xero GL accounts • Set up clearing and holding accounts for timing differences between sales and payouts • Perform historical data clean-up • Identify duplicate transactions, missing merchant fees, and unrecorded COGS • Reconcile Amazon Seller Central settlements against bank feeds • Guide customers through their first three month-end closes • Troubleshoot discrepancies between Stripe/PayPal payment processors and Shopify • Advise customers on sales tax configuration, including Avalara and manual tax liability mapping • Create standard operating procedures for customers’ internal bookkeepers • Act as lead accountant and outsourced controller for Shopify and Amazon brands • Help customers onboard, clean up historical data, and learn to close their books using Webgility

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience • Experience preferably in a Client Accounting Services (CAS) role at a CPA firm or as an in-house accountant for an e-commerce brand • Mastery of QuickBooks Online and Desktop • Familiarity with Shopify backend and payout reports • Familiarity with Amazon Seller Central and settlement reports • Familiarity with eBay • Understanding of gross vs. net sales, merchant fees, chargebacks, returns, and COGS • Understanding of cash vs. accrual inventory accounting • Understanding of gross-to-net logic and fee recording • Ability to explain complex accounting concepts to non-accountant business owners without jargon • Patience, empathy, and ability to de-escalate frustrated customers • Reliable internet connection • CPA or EA candidacy is a nice-to-have • Experience with international clients and multi-currency/FX gains and losses is a nice-to-have
