Beschreibung

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient software solutions for Baylor Genetics’ bioinformatic pipelines • Collaborate with and support cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven software solutions aligned with business needs • Create and optimize data models for assembly, mapping, variant calling, and variant annotation • Develop and optimize ETL processes using APIs • Analyze and optimize SQL queries and database performance • Contribute to database schema design and review sessions • Develop interactive dashboards and automated reports using BI tools such as Azure Pipelines, Teams Power Automate, email, and Nextflow • Collaborate with data analysts, business users, clinical reviewers, laboratory personnel, and software developers to scope requirements and deliver integrations • Integrate disparate data sources and ensure data consistency, accuracy, and reliability • Conduct rigorous testing and automate testing suites using pytest, doctest, and Azure Pipelines • Create comprehensive documentation, including inline comments, genomic diagrams, docstrings, headers, wikis, README files, and trace mappings • Provide support and maintenance for developed solutions • Perform other advanced job-related duties as assigned

🎯 Anforderungen

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics or a related field; Master’s degree preferred • Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development • Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable software solutions based on diverse user feature needs • Proven track record of implementing production ready software solutions from scratch • Deep knowledge and expertise in at least two programming languages: Python, Perl, R, or Bash; Java, C++, and Groovy also considered • Proficiency with SQL Server, NoSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, and ElasticSearch • Proficiency in Agile frameworks and CI/CD practices using Git • Object-oriented programming and standard software design practices • Ability to build performant, highly maintainable, tested, production-ready software packages from scratch • Solid understanding and practice of unit and integration testing • Proficiency in designing and building APIs and microservices from scratch • Solid understanding of package management practices, including PIP and Conda • Containerization experience with Docker and Singularity • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions and work independently • Good communication skills and flexibility to engage stakeholders and subject-matter experts • Experience managing individual projects and adhering to timelines • Familiarity with Linux OS and HPC clusters is a plus, but not essential • Familiarity with workflow management/orchestration tools such as Nextflow, Airflow, or Snakemake is a plus, but not essential
