Beschreibung

• Provide rigorous, independent strategic advice to the CGIAR Council and CGIAR System • Provide strategic oversight and impartial assessment of the CGIAR Strategy, research structure and processes, funding requests, and research proposals • Lead foresight work to inform CGIAR’s longer-term research strategy • Conduct horizon scanning and analyze emerging trends and developments for CGIAR’s work • Contribute to priority-setting exercises integrating ex-post and ex-ante analyses • Attend at least two in-person meetings annually and travel internationally to implement activities under the ISDC Terms of Reference • Attend virtual monthly meetings • Write, review, and comment on materials, sometimes with quick turnaround • Volunteer to lead workstreams and rotate leadership and management roles with secretariat support • Work collaboratively, value divergent scientific opinions, and build consensus

🎯 Anforderungen

• Strong academic record in at least one relevant scientific area: plant breeding and genetics; crop science; agronomy, including agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; water resources and irrigation science; soil science; or animal science, including health and sustainability of animal-based systems • Expertise in plant breeding, genetics and genomics, or animal science and livestock systems particularly encouraged • Background, experience, and/or typical work environment reflecting CGIAR focus regions: South Asia; Southeast Asia & the Pacific; Central & West Asia & North Africa; East & Southern Africa; or West & Central Africa • Experience and/or expertise across scientific, programmatic, innovation, and development domains • Internationally recognized achievements and eminence in the relevant field • Ability to work across disciplines and integrate knowledge from various fields to address complex global challenges • Ability to recognize how science and research deliver development and innovation outcomes aligned with CGIAR’s mandate • Capacity to deliver strategic advice informed by diverse cultural, organizational, educational, training, and geographic backgrounds • Strong leadership and governance skills, with experience guiding organizations and initiatives toward strategic objectives • Good communication skills • English required; proficiency in other languages is a bonus • Ability to work as/in a team and willingness to build consensus • Must comply with IAES conflict-of-interest policy provisions • Must not be a current CGIAR employee or material consultant, have been employed by or served as a material consultant to CGIAR within the prior two years, actively serve on a CGIAR Board or committee, or work directly in a Funder agency represented on the System Council • Applications must include a one-page cover letter, full curriculum vitae, three referees’ names and current contacts, and a declaration of past/current CGIAR involvement and potential conflicts • Nominees must provide confirmation of interest and availability
