Beschreibung

• Provide accounting advice for investment asset classes, including bonds, mortgages, derivatives, and equity investments • Participate in cross-functional teams involving investment-related financial reporting implications • Influence the structuring of new investments • Handle recognition and ongoing accounting for new investments or asset classes acquired by F&G • Monitor and implement emerging accounting guidance impacting investments • Evaluate bespoke investments presented by asset managers and assess their financial reporting outcomes • Assess financial reporting implications of organizational initiatives such as consolidation, asset transfers, derivatives and hedging programs, and capital financing • Evaluate, document, and educate stakeholders on GAAP and Statutory accounting and financial reporting requirements • Assess new investments under Statutory guidance, including the principles-based bond definition • Monitor proposed changes to GAAP and Statutory accounting guidance and advocate for company positions on industry group calls • Educate organizational stakeholders and coordinate cross-functionally on relevant accounting literature • Prepare documentation supporting accounting positions related to new accounting standards • Support creation and maintenance of accounting policies • Work directly with the audit team regarding new transactions and accounting standards • Serve as a key contact for accounting inquiries across the organization • Report to the AVP, Accounting Advisory and collaborate with Investment Strategy, Hedging, Middle Office, Investment Accounting, and Capital Planning

🎯 Anforderungen

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting required • 7+ years of relevant experience • Experience researching accounting guidance or previous accounting policy experience • Extensive knowledge of insurance company investment accounting topics strongly preferred, including fixed income investments, equity investments, derivatives, hedging, asset transfers, IMR/AVR, and affiliated accounting models • Big 4 experience in the insurance audit practice or an accounting advisory role focused on accounting for investments is a plus • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments • Ability to research accounting issues, write professional accounting policies and position papers, and communicate conclusions effectively to management • Ability to exercise judgment, present alternatives, and make recommendations • Ability to communicate and build relationships with business partners • Ability to remain flexible and work in a fast-paced environment • Ability to work under short timelines and manage multiple tasks • Ability to lead conversations and provide documentation clearly and concisely
