Beschreibung

• Lead, develop, and grow a group of software engineers matrixed across PureGym’s delivery squads • Ensure engineers are motivated, progressing, and consistently delivering business outcomes at pace and with quality • Act as the connective tissue between squad individuals and the wider engineering function • Partner closely with the Head of Software Engineering and fellow Software Engineering Managers • Conduct 1:1s, development conversations, performance management, calibration, and hiring • Act as one of three leads in the initiative lifecycle alongside the Delivery Manager and Business Analyst • Own the Discovery phase for initiatives and lead or contribute to initiative acceptance • Provide reactive technical support, review pull requests, and address technical debt • Contribute as an engineer for one sprint equivalent per quarter, rotating across squads • Participate in big room planning, cross-functional work, NFR oversight, compliance and access governance, and operational cost management • Provide line management, pastoral support, performance conversations, and career progression support • Set development goals, track progress, and support promotion cases through the engineering growth framework • Conduct performance reviews and objective-setting aligned with the Head of Software Engineering and wider calibration process • Embed engineering standards and AI-first ways of working

🎯 Anforderungen

• Direct experience managing software engineers in a line management capacity, including running 1:1s, owning performance conversations, and supporting progression • Strong engineering background and technical credibility, ideally at Technical Lead level or above • Ability to give clear, direct, honest feedback and create effective development plans • Good judgment about when to intervene in a squad and when to hold back • Ability to retrospect clearly on incidents and blockers to drive root cause resolution • Experience with upstream technical work, pre-delivery workshops, shaping delivery missions, and partnering with the Principal Software Engineer • Experience working in a matrixed or self-organising engineering team structure (desirable) • Background in a direct-to-consumer digital business (app, website, or e-commerce) (desirable) • Experience supporting engineers through significant structural or cultural change (desirable) • Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and agentic engineering workflows (desirable) • Familiarity with .NET, Azure, or event-driven microservice architectures (desirable) • Technical knowledge of .NET, Kafka, Postgres, GraphQL, Kubernetes, Azure, GitHub workflows, Grafana, Astro, .NET MAUI, Payload, Braze, authentication flows, internationalisation, and agile Kanban-style delivery
