Beschreibung

• Report to the Chief Technology Officer • Own engineering for the Seven Bridges Platform, including architecture, delivery, and production operations • Own platform reliability, cost, technical debt, and observability • Lead engineering teams primarily in India and in Serbia across multiple sites and time zones • Hold architecture authority for the platform and co-own boundary decisions with security, federal compliance, and quality leadership • Partner with a cross-business AI Engineering team • Spend approximately 40% of time on hands-on technical work and 60% on people leadership and organizational delivery • Own the technical vision for the platform over the next three years • Translate the technical vision into an architecture and roadmap • Own architecture decisions of record, design reviews, multi-tenant isolation, and complexity reduction • Govern infrastructure-as-code under CI with policy-as-code, short-lived credentials, progressive rollout, and audit-ready change evidence • Own SLOs, error budgets, cross-site on-call design, and architectural improvements arising from repeat incidents • Ship governed AI in the product and apply governed, measured AI-assisted engineering • Build management depth, specialist capabilities, and a thriving team during growth

🎯 Anforderungen

• 12+ years in software engineering, including several years leading multi-team organizations through managers • Distributed-systems and platform architecture ownership at scale, including multi-tenant isolation and service decomposition • Domain depth in scientific or biomedical data platforms, such as genomics, bioinformatics, life sciences, or comparable data-intensive, workflow-driven scientific computing • Delivery inside a regulatory boundary such as FedRAMP, HIPAA, ISO 13485, or GxP • Reliability and modern delivery engineering: SLOs, error budgets, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD with policy-as-code and progressive rollout • Production AI/LLM capability shipped under a compliance regime, or AI-assisted engineering landed, governed and measured beyond pilots • Track record of setting technical vision for a platform and carrying an organization there • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience • CWL/WDL/Nextflow, GA4GH standards (DRS/WES), FHIR or OMOP • Federated or cross-institutional data access at scale • Federal program delivery and artifact literacy, including authorization packages, significant-change requests, and corrective-action plans • Architecture depth in inference topology, including hosting trade-offs, retrieval with per-tenant authorization, evaluation harnesses, and guardrails • Experience shipping reusable product capability out of grant- or program-funded work • Ability to articulate a three-year platform vision and combine scientific, regulatory, and technology trends • Ability to read code, designs, and test results firsthand • Ability to build and hold accountable a capable management layer • Ability to make hiring and performance decisions promptly • Ability to design for auditability, traceability, and reproducibility • Ability to make timely, defensible decisions under ambiguity and document decision reasoning
