• Set and own Chainguard’s European policy strategy, including priorities, positions, target institutions and officials, and policy narrative. • Engage governments, regulators, and standards bodies across Europe and the UK, including the European Commission, European Parliament, ENISA, CEN-CENELEC, and ETSI. • Determine when to use industry coalitions versus direct advocacy and represent Chainguard in relevant bodies. • Forecast political and policy developments relevant to Chainguard. • Develop policy positions, consultation responses, and written submissions. • Speak on Chainguard’s behalf in public and industry forums. • Translate technical concepts into policy language and emerging requirements into implications for messaging and roadmap. • Support product, marketing, and revenue teams with policy credibility and positioning. • Build repeatable European government affairs processes, relationships, and intelligence flows. • Help build toward leading a regional team as the business grows.
• 8+ years of directly relevant experience in government affairs or public policy. • Experience building or growing a government affairs program or shepherding regulations, standards, or policy strategy through to an outcome. • Senior official engagement experience. • Ability to translate complex technical subject matter for policy audiences. • Comfort operating in ambiguity with minimal guidance and a scrappy, resourceful approach. • Excellent written and verbal communication. • A degree and/or equivalent years of experience in the field. • Based in Europe and able to travel frequently across the region. • Preferred: multi-country European policy or government affairs experience. • Preferred: fluency in one or more European languages in addition to English. • Preferred: experience across public and private sector government affairs. • Preferred: familiarity with ENISA, CEN-CENELEC, ETSI, and major European cybersecurity regulatory and standardization bodies. • Preferred: familiarity with the CRA conformity assessment framework and EU/UK lobbying transparency registers. • Preferred: experience representing a company through industry coalitions or trade associations. • Preferred: fluency in software supply chain security, cybersecurity, or AI subject matter. • Preferred: experience at a high-growth company.
