📋 Description

• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers • Set the technical vision for projects • Ensure best practices in scalability, performance, and security • Guide architectural decisions and maintain technical excellence • Drive key initiatives from conception through delivery • Align execution with Function’s strategic goals • Build systems that scale as the company grows • Partner with product, design, and operations teams • Align engineering outcomes with member experience and business priorities • Communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders • Establish engineering practices supporting high velocity and quality • Champion Agile methodologies, CI/CD, testing, measurement, and iteration • Stay current with emerging technologies • Inspire innovative solutions to healthcare challenges

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years in software engineering • At least 3+ years in a formal leadership or management role • Proven success in hiring, coaching, and scaling high-performing teams, ideally in a startup environment • Proficiency in Python • Experience building large-scale distributed systems • Familiarity with AWS and Google Cloud • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes • Experience driving engineering processes balancing speed with quality • Experience with Agile practices, test-driven development, and continuous integration/deployment • Ability to lead and build culture in a distributed team environment • Strong communication skills and ability to build trust across time zones • Passion for healthcare innovation • Bias toward action and ability to make decisions under uncertainty • Adaptability to changing business needs • Excellent communication skills • Comfort with remote work environments • Commitment to continuous improvement • Nice-to-have: Data Engineering background • Nice-to-have: React, React Native, GCP, and Postgres proficiency • Nice-to-have: Experience building and deploying machine learning services • Nice-to-have: Start-up experience, especially as a former founder or early engineering hire • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of Oura, Whoop, Apple Watch, and CGMs
